For MyEclipse:

Users will notice multiple such enhancements, such as the upgrade of MyEclipse Spring tools, which provides the most up-to-date technology as well as the integration of the latest Spring framework 2.5 libraries. JSF developers can expect to see a dramatic improvement to the JSF/Facelet visual page designer with all new support for coding and WYSIWYG preview of custom components. Finally, by customer demand, MyEclipse 6.5 includes Java portlet support. The new portlet creation tools seamlessly integrate with the MyEclipse visual web design tools and application server connectors to provide a rapid portlet development experience.

“We recognize that our customers expect the very highest service from the MyEclipse Enterprise Workbench product line,” said Wayne Parrott, vice president of development for Genuitec in a statement to the press. “With the MyEclipse 6.5 release, we continue our tradition of providing the Java enterprise developer community with the most recent application technologies and productivity tools available.”

MyEclipse Enterprise Workbench 6.5 milestone-1 release includes the following enhancements over previous editions:

  • Spring framework 2.5 and tools upgrade
  • JAX-WS 2.1 web services
  • Support for JSR-168 portlets
  • Improved JSF and Facelet visual page design and coding features
  • New web.xml editor
  • Updated ICEFaces JSF component support

For MyEclipse Blue Edition users:

MyEclipse Blue Edition includes all of the above listed enhancements to MyEclipse, but also some advanced WebSphere-specific features. The biggest addition to MyEclipse 6.5 Blue Edition is project migration support, which allows developers currently working with IBM Rational Application Developer (RAD) 6 and WebSphere Application Developer (WSAD) 5 can now migrate projects into MyEclipse 6.5 Blue Edition.

Additionally, the milestone release now enables developers to configure, launch and manage multiple WebSphere profiles simultaneously from within the IDE. This capability gives WebSphere developers a range of new freedoms to concurrently develop, deploy and debug their enterprise Java applications to any number of their customized WebSphere profiles. Many MyEclipse Blue customers plan to use this support to evaluate use of the new WebSphere feature packs for Java EE 5 JAX-WS web services, EJB3 and JPA technologies while simultaneously continuing development on their current application technology platform. MyEclipse Blue Edition seamlessly supports this functionality and many other advanced multiple WebSphere profile usage scenarios.

“Blue was birthed and continues to evolve as a result of customer requests. Our users needed a product that provided popular technologies and worked with WebSphere without leaving a huge footprint,” said Maher Masri, CEO for Genuitec, also in a press statement. “Responding to the call, Genuitec is pleased to provide tools for WebSphere users faster than anyone in the market.”

As always, all releases and upgrades are available to subscribers and free trial users at no charge.
